Trudelutt

THE BOAT AND
THE CREW

About the boat with the name Trudelutt, type, equipment and more...

The name had to be Trudelutt as the name of my wife is Trude. The type is Saga27 AC built in 1986 by Saga Boats A/S at Selje at the western cost of Norway. The Saga 27 has been produced since 1969 (36 years ago!), and is still in production. I bought her second hand in 1987. The colour of the hull is white with a dark blue ribbon and blue hod. Loa.= 8,15m, Brd.= 2,75m and draft=80cm. Weight 2500kg.

The engine is a reliable dieselengine from Yanmar (4JHE 44Hp 1,6l 4cyl) without turbo and hanky panky.

Tanks For diesel water and so on: For anchoring we have an electrical winch from Engbo at the stern with 40m chain and a 16kg Engbo anchor. To be able to use the boat not only at mid summer, we have a Eberspächer D2 2kw hot air heater for diesel. In the gallery you will find a Wallas 95D cooker with a ceramic top for diesel. And of course a 49l refrigerator. The lavatory has an electrical pump for flushing an delivering to the holding tank. An electrical pump likewise empties the holding tank. With a shipdog with dirty paws, the front deck gets very dirty. For that reason I bought a flushing pump for sea water and 8m of hose. How do I power all this electrical stuff you may ask? Of course the boat is provided with a lot of other equipment, for pleasure and safety. 19" colour TV, stereo radio of course. For the safety we have a Sailor VHF RT2048 for communication. For navigation, in addition to the compass filled with alcohol, the seamaps and rulers, I have invested in some electronics: All connected together and communicating via NMEA183. Instruments like fueltank reader are from the Norwegian company Wema. Digital voltmeters and amp.meters are my own constructions.

In addition to the electronic safety equipment, we also carry lifejackets and sea anchor.

The homeport is charming Son in the Oslofjord.

You will find an overview map with the Oslofjord and Son here. Son is located between Moss and Drøbak, north of Jeløya. And here you see a map of the harbour. Trudelutt has her berth (indicated with red) inside all the floating stages. The distance from there to drinking water, 220v mains and car parking is 3m. The places for visiting boats, two floating stages and a long pier are indicated with yellow on the map.
For visitors, Son has the most. Drinking water, fuel, washing machines and tumblers. Public house, café, restaurant and several shops of many kind. I have copied some pictures from the home pages for the harbour. You will find them here. My home port, Sonskilen Båthavn has their own homepages.here. The pages are only in Norwegian. There are some pictures and a description of what facilities (repair for engines, the hull and so on) available. Send me an e-mail and I will guide you.

At last a brief presentation of the crew.

We live at a place called Skjetten close to Lillestrøm north of Oslo. We are two persons pluss our shipdog. My wife Trude is 58 year young and handles what wives normally do in a boat. - Jumping ashore with the mooring rope, cooks, is my mistress and takes good care of the captain all the time. She was born in Kristiansund, but she moved to the Oslo area many years ago. She is working as a nurse at Aker hospital in Oslo

Our first shipdog was a black Labrador boy with the name Brutus. dog He was 1/2 year old when we got the boat. He enjoied himself on board as long as the trips was not to long and the sea not to rough. But never the less, he never suffered from seasickness. And when we berthed he was number one ashore. And then directly into the sea for a swim. He loved swimming. He reached the age of 13 year and 3 1 1/2 month before he left us.

But now we have a new ship dog! Labrador male, but chocolat colour! His name is Japp japp (popular chocolate bar in Norway). He is born at Nannestad close to Oslo's airport Gardermoen. There he lived his first 8 weeks with his 9 other brown sisters and brothers. Witsun he signed up on Trudelutt for the first time. He behaved very well both at sea and in harbour. He was only 11 weeks at that time. 4 months old he shedded his first baby tooths and turned up to be a big boy.

And at last the captain, that's me, and my name is Lars. I am 67 year old and I was born in Stavanger. I moved to the Oslo area many years ago. I'm retired, but my last job was at FFI (The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment). I am an engineer of electronics. 40 years ago I worked one year at a drilling barge in the North Sea. Then for 17 years at the NRK (Norwegian Brodcasting Corporation), and some years in the data business for Tandberg Data. Onboard Trudelutt I am the boss (I believe). But without any shouting. We are a well-traind team.
